Meet your instructor
Darren Whiteman
Hi, I’m Darren Whiteman, owner of Whisky Wood and creator of these woodworking courses.
During high school I loved all the Industrial Arts subjects including Woodworking, Leather Work, Metal Work and Technical Drawing. After high school I graduated university as a qualified teacher with a Diploma of Education.
My life took me into the corporate world for a while, but my true love of woodworking was always calling. During this time, I studied and honed my fine woodworking skills at the Splinter Workshop in Sydney Australia. Here I learnt a broad range of fine woodworking skills using hand tools.
I then enrolled in the Certificate III in Furniture Making. This gave me the skills and knowledge required to perform a wide range of tasks in furniture making, including the use of all woodworking machines and hand techniques and tools.
I left full time employment to start my woodworking business making wood products for selling mainly online. Products such as whisky and wine boxes, Jewelry boxes, cutting boards, etc.
I am looking forward to sharing everything I have learnt over the past years so you can enjoy making quality wood products for either just your friends and family, or to start your woodworking business.
